Applications are invited from enthusiastic Specialist Biomedical Scientists with knowledge and expertise in the field of Haematology and Blood Transfusion to apply for a Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist / Quality Lead role (Band 7) covering both Haematology and Blood Transfusion.  The post is based at University Hospital Crosshouse,  a modern 562 bedded Acute General Hospital serving a catchment population of 340 000. Glasgow is approximately a 35 minute drive from Crosshouse.

You will be HCPC registered with an MSc or FIBMS and have passed the IBMS Certificate of Expert Practise in Quality Management. Consideration may be given to candidates who do not have certificate but can demonstrate considerable Quality Management experience. It would be expected that you would pass the examination in QM at the next sitting.

Previous experience working at band 6 level or above in a busy Haematology and Blood Transfusion Department is essential. Experience working in an Immunology department would be advantageous.

You will be joining the day team as one of the Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientists (Band 7) and will be responsible for taking the lead in quality for the department. Good communication and organisation skills are essential. In addition to the QL role you will also rotate through the department taking charge of various sections.

The department offers a 24/7 Haematology and Blood Transfusion service. The department operates a EWT compliant shift system and the successful candidate will be required to participate.

The department has full UKAS accreditation and is MHRA compliant.

Hours of duty are 37.5 per week over 7 days.
