A unique and exciting full-time permanent opportunity has arisen for an Optometrist to join the Optometry and Medical Retina Team based in Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
You will join the existing team of approx. 40 Optometrists who work in the 8 Ophthalmology departments across GG+C.
You will work within the Ophthalmology medical retina team across GG&C managing patients with various medical retina conditions including diabetes and AMD.
You will be responsible for you own Optometry led clinics in these areas.
You will also work as a senior member of the Optometry team in core clinics including contact lenses, adult refraction, and visual fields. These clinics provide support to Specialist Optometry and Ophthalmology clinics at Gartnavel Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital.
You will have some clinical supervision responsibility for junior staff including Pre Registration Optometrists and Health Care Support Workers.
As a Band 7 Optometrist you will have managerial responsibilities including Turas appraisals of staff and rota management.
Staff and clinic rotations may provide future opportunities to work within Paediatric and Low Vision clinics as well as development into other extended roles within Ophthalmology.
Previous hospital experience, medical retina and specialist contact lens experience is desirable but not a pre-requisite. Ongoing comprehensive training will be provided to the successful candidate. Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently yet also within a team and the ability to prioritise work load using effective time management skills are desirable.
You must have a Degree in Optometry and hold current General Optical Council registration
You will be required to cover clinics across site therefore the willingness to travel is essential.

Hours of work are: 37.5 hrs per week and the shift pattern is Monday to Friday 9-5 pm
