We are delighted to announce that we have an Assistant Psychologist post available in NHS Borders adult mental health services. The post is 0.8wte for a 12 month fixed term contract and will be supporting psychological treatment delivered in our CMHTs and other adult services. In addition, we are likely to be able to offer 0.2wte for up to 6 months in our primary care service which is subject to approval, but could potentially be added to this post for those who may be looking for full time employment.
The posts will include co-facilitating trans-diagnostic courses alongside qualified psychologists, data collection, audit and delivering manualised guided self-help interventions. The Head of Adult Mental Health Psychology will line manage the post. All of our assistant psychologist posts are supervised by a qualified Band 8a clinical psychologist.
The post will offer a variety of roles which will provide a solid foundation for any candidate wishing to go on to further training within psychology. We have had a good success rate this year with two of our assistant psychologists achieving places on clinical training. The posts will involve working across the Scottish Borders which has a population of approximately 114,000 in a rural setting.
We are a relatively small but friendly staff group and we aim to provide a supportive environment to facilitate professional development. We have close links with the University of Edinburgh/NES Clinical Psychology Training Programme and provide core and specialist placements for trainees.
We are in easy reach of Edinburgh and many of our staff are based in the capital. Some use the train or car share to make the journey to work and we are happy to advise on travel times and routes.
Please contact Dr Timothy Sporle, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, email: timothy.sporle@borders.scot.nhs.uk or mobile 07747 757268 for more information about these posts.
