Salary: £35,958 - £63,597 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow. This is a fixed-term Clinical Research Fellowship designed, principally, to support cardiovascular and heart failure-related research across different hospitals in Greater Glasgow & Clyde (GG&C) Health Board, NHS Lanarkshire and the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, funded jointly by grants held by the University of Glasgow (Robertson Centre for Biostatistics) (50%) and Lanarkshire R&D (50%).

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Pierpaolo Pellicori, a senior research fellow & honorary Consultant in Cardiology, Drs. Robin Weir and Colin Petrie, Consultant Cardiologists in Monklands and Hairmyres Hospitals, and Professor John Cleland, Director of the Robertson Centre for Biostatistics & Glasgow Clinical Trials Unit. Applicants must be willing and able to work on different sites but would not be expected to commute between sites on a single working day.

The successful candidate is expected to use this opportunity to develop a body of research leading to a higher degree. There is a large of amount of data immediately available requiring analysis and publication. Funding has already been acquired and a lot of the preparatory work for projects that will enroll new patients has already been completed.

The post-holder will also be involved in :

1. Working within a research team of nurses and doctors on clinical trials (grant or industry funded) predominantly, but not exclusively, related to cardiovascular and metabolic disease.

2. Endpoint adjudication for clinical trials of heart failure.

3. Up to two NHS cardiology clinics per week; partly to grow clinical experience and partly to assist with identifying patients suitable for and interested in participating in research.

This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years in the first instance.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Pellicori, Pierpaolo.Pellicori@glasgow.ac.uk
