Consultant Applied Psychologist (Band 8c) – East Lothian AMH (Psychological Therapies Service) 0.5 wte Permanent

We are delighted to invite applications for a permanent Band 8c Consultant Applied Psychologist. This 0.5wte permanent post will lead the development of the general Adult Mental Health Psychology service provision within the East Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership, working within the East Lothian Psychological Therapies Service (PTS) and collaboratively with the Nurse Team Lead for PTS, CMHT & IHTT. The post holder will operationally manage the other psychologists and clinical associates within the team and provide expert supervision to colleagues. You will have a specific caseload of clients with the most complex mental health presentations and provide expert supervision and consultancy with colleagues. You will be a psychological resource to clinical colleagues through supervision, consultancy and training.

The East Lothian Psychological Therapies Service is a core provider of high intensity individual and group therapy interventions, including Clinical & Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology and Psychological Therapists. PTS links with CMHT provision, in addition to other primary care & community services such as CWIK Team and Changes. There has been recent investment into the team and workforce.

The postholder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service. They will ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical delivery and professional supervision and support of trainees as well as staff delivering low intensity psychological therapies. They will act as a highly specialist resource to the wider professional community and, as a requirement of the job, carry out research activities, audit, policy and service development. This post also sits as a Psychology representation within HSCP Mental Health, Learning Disability & Mental Health management organisation, working closely with multidisciplinary leads and service management regarding operational, strategic and service development.

The successful applicant will be a Clinical Psychologist with extensive knowledge, skills and experience gained from working in adult mental health services over a number of years. They will have experience of undertaking clinical leadership roles within multi-disciplinary or multi-agency contexts; and providing consultation and supervision to colleagues on psychological aspects of care.

Audit/Research is actively encouraged and there is a strong commitment to professional development of staff.

You will have a Doctoral level degree (or equivalent) in Clinical Psychology and be eligible for registration with the HCPC and the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.

The postholder will be managed and supported professionally by the Head of Adult Psychology Services, with wider support and contact with other Consultant Professional Leads and the wider East Lothian HSCP management team.
