Job Advert

This post is for a Principal Psychoanalytic Child Psychotherapist with up to date registration with the ACP.
This post provides an opportunity to join a dynamic child psychotherapy team at a time of change and service development in response to the Scottish Government investment into child and adolescent mental health.
The Principal Child Psychotherapy Post will be based in one team to contribute to the provision of multi-disciplinary CAMHS with dedicated sessions to support other CAMHS teams by supervising Band 7 Child Psychotherapists and Trainee Child Psychotherapists. In addition, the post will also be responsible for supervising Band 6 mental health practitioners using a Metalizing approach.
The Principal post also involves providing supervision, reflective practice and training opportunities for the wider CAMHS/HSCP staff as appropriate. This will include care management supervision as well as metalization and psychoanalytic supervision as required by the service.
All Child Psychotherapy work uses a GIRFEC practice model. There will be close collaboration within the multi-disciplinary team, provision of advice and consultation to other NHS services and working alongside statutory and third sector services helping children and their families.
Each CAMHS team uses a CAPA approach and the job plan will be reviewed quarterly to respond to service needs.
While based in one multi-disciplinary CAMHS team, this post will be supported by a Board-Wide Principal Child Psychotherapy Reference Group and supervision will be provided by the Professional Lead for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
