Advanced Nurse Specialist / Trainee Advanced Nurse Specialist (annex 21) –Band 6/7 – Urology Cancer
An amazing opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Nurse Specialist in Urology to join a team of dedicated clinicians delivering cancer treatment to patients across Fife. This is a perfect development opportunity for a nurse to work in urology alongside a fantastic and welcoming team.
We are looking for an exceptional nurse to be part of the dynamic clinical team to join our team. You will be confident, enthusiastic, dynamic and self-motivated. As a Trainee Nurse Specialist or an Advanced Nurse Specialist, you will be trained to undertake the complete clinical assessment for patients by utilising your advanced clinical knowledge and skills. . A tailor made programme of development would be undertaken dependent on skill set and experience.
We would expect you to be willing to undertake a masters in Advanced Clinical Practice NMP.
You will undertake urology specific diagnostic education to be able to perform cystoscopy and trans peritoneal biopsy. This training offers an opportunity to transform the way men with suspected prostate cancer are biopsied, making it less likely that they will experience complications like infections. We are therefore really excited to invite you to train for this role.
This would be complimented by a supportive consultant mentor and the development of specific competencies.
Essential Qualifications
It is essential that you are a Registered General Nurse on the NMC register. You should have or be working towards, an appropriate Masters level qualification in Advanced Practice which provides evidence of competency in the following:
• Clinical Examination & History Taking
• Clinical Decision Making
• Independent Prescribing
And experience as an ANP/CNS in an acute setting and/or an ambulatory care setting.
Training Opportunity
Candidates who commence on band 6 will be required to successfully complete the appropriate qualification/s or training as outlined within the Annex 21 competency framework prior to progressing to band 7.
We will also welcome applications from experienced staff nurses who possess the commitment and willingness to undertake the Advanced Nurse Specialist training. Annexe 21 (Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions) will apply until successful completion of the training programme.
Applicants for the training post must have post registration experience in an acute setting/ medical environment.

You must have the ability to work as part of a wide multi-disciplinary team as well as to work independently. You will embrace change and have the desire to develop and improve services. You will hold well developed interpersonal and communication skills and also possess good facilitation and IT skills.
