Applications are invited from individuals with a clean driving licence and driving experience for the above post based in the Microbiology Laboratory in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
The successful applicant will join a team of drivers. The work involves collecting specimens from GP surgeries and hospitals across Tayside and one site in NHS Fife and delivering them to the laboratories in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. It also involves the delivery of some supplies and vaccines from Ninewells Hospital to service users, GPs, schools and NHS Tayside hospital and day care sites.
Experience of driving in a variety of conditions would be an advantage. Knowledge of the local area would be an advantage, but full training will be provided. The duties include transporting pathological specimens, some of which will contain biohazards. Some specimens will have chemical hazards. Training in dealing with spillages will be given.
