Job Advert
Pharmaceutical Analyst (Post Ref: 070483)
Scottish Medicines Consortium
£50,965 to £55,016 (Band 8A)
Two posts available: one permanent and one fixed term or secondment (1 year)
Edinburgh/Glasgow - remote working to apply for the foreseeable future.
The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) (https://www.scottishmedicines.org.uk/) provides the national source of advice on the clinical and cost-effectiveness of all new medicines for NHSScotland. SMC also has a horizon scanning function that provides NHS Boards with early intelligence on new medicines in development.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated pharmacists to join our clinical assessment team. Two vacancies are available; one permanent post and one fixed-term or secondment opportunity (1 year). As a pharmaceutical analyst, you will lead the evaluation of clinical and/or pharmaceutical data submitted by pharmaceutical companies for new medicines. You will be responsible for the production of documentation and presentations summarising the key clinical evidence to support robust and transparent decision-making. The role requires effective communication and negotiation with health economists, health services researchers, senior clinicians, service providers and pharmaceutical industry representatives to interpret their opinions and viewpoints in situations where there may be conflicting opinions and evidence.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacist with highly developed critical evaluation and analytical skills to further develop these skills within SMC. You should have proven ability to work well in a multidisciplinary environment, excellent oral and written presentation skills and the ability to work effectively to strict deadlines. You must have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent with a higher level qualification, and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Please ensure you have the agreed support of your line manager before applying on a secondment basis.
SMC is part of Healthcare Improvement Scotland and the post is based within the Healthcare Improvement Scotland office in Glasgow (home-working at present due to pandemic).
