Charge Nurses - Critical Care

As a result of expanding our Critical Care bed capacity we are looking to recruit experienced critical care nurses with relevant post graduate training to join our highly skilled multi-disciplinary critical care teams at a number of our acute hospital sites in North Glasgow, South Glasgow and Paisley. - North Glasgow: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- South Glasgow: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Paisley: Royal Alexandra Hospital

The Roles Our Critical Care teams care for both emergency, elective adult and paediatric patients requiring Level 2 or Level 3 care. Our Intensive Care/High Dependency multidisciplinary teams provide highly specialist care pathways and closer nursing observation for patients whose conditions range from single to multi organ failure, who may require ventilatory support, either invasively or non-invasively, cardiovascular and renal support.
***Candidates may wish to note that the role specific to Critical Care unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital provides also a critical care outreach and High acuity service to patients within the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre which is located on the Gartnavel General Hospital Campus.
As part of the senior team you will report to and support the Senior Charge Nurse with shift responsibilities for staff leadership and management and maintaining the delivery of a high standard of care to critically ill patients which includes the assessment of care needs and delivery/maintenance of optimal care outcomes, ensuring that the highest standard of personalized nursing care is delivered to the patient requiring Critical Care support. This being in partnership with all members of the critical care multi-disciplinary team.
We are seeking candidates who will act as an expert resource, working within the multidisciplinary teams. This is the ideal opportunity to become an expert in the management, leadership, communication and behavioural skills required of a Band 6 Charge Nurse within our Critical Care units.
The shift pattern is rotational 12 hours, Monday to Sunday.
The Person Specification With an enthusiasm for working in a Critical Care environment candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to adapt to an unpredictable, rapidly evolving, technologically advanced work environment, and be able to cope with, and drive change. We welcome applications from NMC registered nurses with significant experience within a critical care environment who are seeking further development in the leadership skills these posts require. Essential requirements for the role include evidence of professional development, competent IT skills and a genuine interest in critical care and the ability to engage with others and work effectively in a dynamic service.
In addition, applicants must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice. Post basic study in relevant Critical Care course/modules is required. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.
You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the NMC Register.
