About the NHS Scotland Academy  

The NHS Scotland Academy is an exciting partnership between NHS Golden Jubilee and NHS Education for Scotland to offer accelerated training for a wide range of health and social care roles and professions. The Academy will provide an opportunity for staff to improve their skills in specific areas, using residential, distance and virtual reality learning. It will offer attractive training programmes linked to recruitment and career progression.  

The Academy draws on the strengths of both parent organisations. It will use both the state-of-the-art clinical and simulation facilities at NHS Golden Jubilee and the educational expertise and technology-enabled learning offered by NHS Education for Scotland   

The Academy will support NHS Scotland to develop additional capacity and new capabilities. It will add to existing educational programmes and respond to evolving and emerging workforce needs. By addressing recruitment gaps and training needs, it will help ensure the health and social care workforce is prepared for future needs in Scotland. 

As part of this partnership, the successful applicant will be employed by NHS Education for Scotland within the Clinical Skills Managed Educational Network, part of the Medical Directorate


What you'll do 

You will be part of the innovative multi-professional award winning Clnical Skills Managed Educational Network whilst working for the new Academy. The Clinical Skills Managed Educational Network delivers award winning state-of-the-art skills education by providing safe, evidence-based, quality simulation-based education across the whole of the Scottish health and social care system through innovation and using a continuous improvement model.

The purpose of this exciting new full time post is to manage the development of a portfolio of evidence-based educational tools, working alongside subject experts in NHS Academy and territorial health boards.

Your key tasks will include, but not be limited to:

  • Developing innovative online learning resources using a range of rapid-authoring, e-learning and multimedia technologies such as virtual reality / 360 degree resources
  • Supporting the implementation and review of multidisciplinary education initiatives by planning, developing and designing educational programmes at a variety of levels with a range of subject experts within a project management structure. Evaluating and reporting on the use of these programmes and online resources
  • Ensuring online resources and courses developed by NHS Academy are evidence based and adhere to best practices and accessibility standards
  • Collaborating with multi-professional team members as well as key stakeholders to develop a robust evidence base to underpin practice based educational activity


What you'll bring

You will be a dynamic individual with experience in learning technology and have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will relish being part of a team, and have leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and a flexible approach to learning and problem solving.

You will have an excellent understanding of the role and benefits of technology to improve the learning experience and have significant experience in developing interactive SCORM and other learning resources. This may include experience of working with specialist software such as Articulate, creating educational videos and developing virtual reality resources.

You will demonstrate innovation and creativity when working collaboratively with stakeholders and will have experience of managing projects, be able to prioritise workload, establish goals, timescales and work plans and meet agreed targets.
