We are looking for an exceptional, inspirational and experienced senior midwife who as Head of Midwifery will have strategic leadership responsibility. This will ensure the delivery of person centred, safe and effective midwifery care.
The post holder will be based in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, which is situated on the outskirts of Dumfries, providing midwifery and consultant led care for approximately 1150 births a year. Services are delivered across the region from Langholm in the East to Stranraer and beyond in the West.
The post holder will provide leadership direction and guidance on professional issues. He/She will be responsible for developing policy and establishing an effective and highly skilled midwifery and nursing workforce to meet the needs of the population. This is in accordance with the Healthcare Quality Strategy, Best Start and other national policy reports.
The post holder will also lead on Quality Assurance and drive a culture of Continuous Quality Improvement across the Women, Children and Sexual Health Services Directorate, providing assurance around clinical governance, risk, patient experience and quality improvement.
The Head of Midwifery/Quality Assurance Lead will work very closely with the Directorate General Manager, Nurse Director, Associate Medical Director and other Senior Managers to ensure the delivery of safe, fit for purpose services that meet the needs of Women, Children, and Young People & Families.
