An exciting opportunity has arisen on the Bellsdyke Hospital Site, Larbert for enthusiastic registered mental health nurses who are keen to enhance/develop their clinical skills in a Staff Nurse position.

These are rotational posts and the successful candidate will initially be based within Hope House our 6 bedded female low secure unit. The successful post holder will, as part of a multidisciplinary team (psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy & dietetics), provide care through a progressive patient focused approach, within a safe environment and underpinned by risk assessment and management that will maximise the individual’s rehabilitation potential.

As a pivotal member of the team you should possess good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), and be able to lead and motivate others within the team.

Since Hope House opened on 2017 a number of initiatives have been introduced:

  • The unit promotes a homestyle model of care and a focus on rehabilitation. Patients in the service will be encouraged to carry out their own everyday living activities as much as possible, supervised, guided and risk assessed by staff responsible for their care. As such the secure environment will be complemented by chosen meaningful and purposeful activities. Each patient will have an individual seven-day activity programme reviewed regularly and detailed in her care plan.
  • Daily use of Decider Skills, to enhance patients coping strategies
  • 2 activity coordinators, who focus on therapeutic activity
  • Improving Observation Practice (IOP) – Hope House has been the the pilot site for the clinical pause, continuous intervention recovery plan & hourly interventions.
  • Fortnightly reflective practice group for Hope House staff and access to additional reflective Practice group, site wide (twice monthly).
  • The recent introduction of PODS, which is an aid to assist with physical intervention.   These promote safety and help delivery physical intervention in a trauma informed way.
  • We work closely with our community teams who have come in to support psychological group work.
  • We are in the middle of developing a training programme, specific to the needs of the staff who work in Hope House.
