In response to the number of clinical trials starting or resuming (following delay due to the COVID19 pandemic), an exciting opportunity has arisen for a FY2+ doctor to support clinical research at Perth Royal Infirmary, NHS Tayside. This post will be for six months.
The post holder will be mainly based at The Gannochy Research suite, a specially designed, well equipped modern clinical research facility based at Perth Royal Infirmary. The successful candidate will contribute to the running of clinical trials examining novel treatments relevant to several clinical specialties, working alongside experienced research nurses and established Principal Investigators.
Day to day work will include screening, approach and consenting of potential subjects, and completion of study visits and associated paperwork. Contribution to the research teams running clinical trials at the Clinical Research Centre, Ninewells, will also be expected and encouraged (when possible). Therefore, applicants must be willing and able to travel between both sites.
Training will be provided on commencement of the post in the conduct of clinical trials, including Good Clinical Practice, and the performance and interpretation of techniques relevant to each study e.g. lung function.
Opportunities will be available for attendance at specialist clinics, and to gain experience in clinical procedures relevant to general medical specialties. Contribution at an appropriate level to evenings and weekend medical staffing across PRI and Ninewells will be expected.
