This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapists to join our Acute Physiotherapy Team. This post is based within in patients at the Western General Hospital and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh which is the city’s main acute admitting site, and also a major teaching centre.

Candidates must display evidence of clinical experience in a variety of acute areas from: Respiratory, Orthopaedics, Stroke, Acute Medicine and Medicine of the Elderly. A focus and interest in development of skills in medical hospital patient specialities is highly desirable. Ability to prioritise, assess, treat and discharge plan for a wide range of presentations is essential, as is clarity of communication and well-demonstrated organisational skills. Experience of supervision, mentorship and appraisal of other staff members / students is expected.

There are a number of exciting new opportunities to support initiatives to support patient flow and performance of the Health System.

There is a regular overnight on-call commitment and weekend working will be expected. 

The range of conditions and specialities encountered, and requirement for excellence in clinical reasoning and team working in these posts at the RIE/WGH will allow the successful candidates to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a band 6 physiotherapist. Physiotherapy Services support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD. There are a range of departmental professional groups that staff members can take the opportunity to participate in to assist with the overall function and development of the adult / acute physiotherapy team.
