An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 22.5hr Trainee Obstetric Sonographer within NHS Grampian. 

NHSG ultrasound department provides a scanning service for both in and outpatients from 6 weeks gestation, throughout pregnancy and into the postnatal period.  Over 35,000 scans are performed per year in our maternity service.  You will be expected to work across our main and peripheral departments across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray.

Once qualified you will be able to perform, interpret, report and inform women and families of scanning, screening and diagnostic results.  There is an expectation, once qualified, that you will be able to provide sensitive and complex information regarding abnormality and fetal loss to highly anxious women and their partners.   You will be required to liaise and refer to the multi-professional team when abnormalities are detected on scan.    This will be a blended learning approach with hands on workplace experience combined with university learning. 

This is a Band 6 training post with advancement to Band 7 on qualification.
