We have a good opportunity to work within a dedicated Learning disability service, the postholder will undertake care duties for patients in support of and delegated by the Registered Nurse, within a hospital or similar setting. Reports patient condition to registered staff.
Working in an emotionally demanding environment where challenging behaviour can occur or distressing situations are encountered due to the nature of the client / patient group and the nature of the work undertaken you will be managing your own time and competing demands to maximise the face-to-face time spent with clients / patients and carers while maintaining effective communication with clients / patients with mental disorder including mental illness, personality disorder or learning disability and often associated physical health problems .
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
Knowledge of personal care and related procedures or previous volunteer or work experience in a health, education or social environment.
Required to undertake on the job training and induction
Undertake mandatory HCSW standards
Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment.
Working knowledge of basic information technology.
Working shifts will be Monday to Sunday, 3 shift pattern and unsociable hours
