An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative Band 7 Occupational Therapist to work with the Aberdeenshire Criminal Justice Team, designing and delivering a test of change to evidence added value and impact of an occupational therapist in this setting.
This post sits within the Criminal Justice Team in Aberdeenshire, the location of which can have a degree of flexibility dependant on applicant circumstances/service needs. Applicants who are interested in applying on a part time, secondment or job share basis would be considered.
The successful candidate will have the skills to work with quality assurance teams to design and deliver on a test of change, exploring the added value of an occupational therapist in this setting. This test will involve the delivery of occupation centred assessment and treatment to an agreed number of individuals. This will be underpinned by a public health perspective and a person centred, populations based approach. Robust data gathering and outcome measures aligned to an occupation focussed model will be expected as will an evaluative report to service managers. This report will detail the test of change findings including how any future posts require to be positioned and designed in order to result in a sustainable improvement to criminal justice services.
The criminal justice team are a supportive and friendly team throughout Aberdeenshire comprising a fieldwork team in both North and South Aberdeenshire who hold responsibility for Throughcare provision. In addition, there is a programmes team who have responsibility for the delivery of accredited programmes across Aberdeenshire.
The post holder will have relevant experience working as an Occupational Therapist with, marginalised communities and individuals with complex needs, including co-morbidity of health problems. An understanding of how an occupational perspective can positively impact health inequalities, health and wellbeing and the desistance process of those in the justice system is essential.
