An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and innovative Senior Nurse to provide senior leadership for the nursing workforce within the Surgical Care Division. This post is aligned to theatres, Anaesthesia and Critical Care. The post holder will deliver frontline professional and operational priorities and manage the departmental Senior Charge Nurses Senior Operating Department Practitioners ensuring the safe, effective and person centred care of patients. Although based within Ninewells, there will be an expectation to support and work flexibly across sites
The Clinical Care Group based on a service line model with devolved accountability from the Operational Leadership Team, ensuring clear lines of accountability for clinical care quality, operational and financial performance, staff governance and management of front line clinical services, through the site management teams. They will actively engage in and support collegiate working across the whole organisation with visible leadership and management of services on a Pan-Tayside basis to promote safe integrated patient pathways and efficient and effective use of resources. The role of the Clinical Care Groups is to work in a single system with secondary care colleagues, Health and Social Care Partnerships, Primary Care Services and other partner organisations to provide health and care services, thus strengthening the interface links and integration between clinical services to provide jointly planned community based care whenever possible, with fully developed integrated patient journeys.
Accountable to the Lead Nurse, the post holder is expected to work for the clinical and business success of the Organisation and to contribute to the success of the Clinical Care Group and Operational Division. The post holder will be required to provide clinical leadership which inspires and motivates others to ensure the Senior Charge Nurses have the support they need to improve patient care and resolve clinical issues. They will promote professionalism and leadership within the Nursing teams and ensure that care is person centred and of a high quality, as well as taking a lead role in the overall management of the safety and flow framework and operational service provision within and out of hours, liaising with senior colleagues in order to achieve optimum bed usage whilst managing the safe and effective flow of admissions.
The post holder will be responsible for leading and implementing change, acting as a professional resource, providing advice and recommendations necessary for triumvirate business planning thus contributing to the delivery of local plans and priorities. The role provides a balance between professional management and operational management.
You must be a first level Registered Nurse who is educated to Degree level or equivalent with evidence of post graduate education, continuous management development or working towards Masters level or the equivalent demonstration of professional knowledge in clinical practice.
