Job Advert

This post is a 12 Month Fixed Term / Secondment position.
Location – National Distribution Centre, Larkhall or Gyle Square, Edinburgh

The post-holder will lead the management of a strategic stockpile of medicines to support the response to any future waves of COVID-19 infection within Scotland. Working closely with a diverse range of suppliers, distributors and Health Board representatives, the role involves:
Co-ordinating the stock-build and required on-going replenishment.
Managing the stockpile including undertaking regular stock-counts and auditing warehouses where stock is held to ensure compliance with Good Distribution Practice.
Ensuring full records are maintained and undertaking ongoing financial reporting and forecasting.
Working closely with Health Boards to recycle stock into the business as usual hospital supply chain.
Whilst there are established processes in place linked to the management of other existing medicines stockpiles, this represents a significant increase in central stockholding so a priority will be ensuring that processes are as efficient and effective as possible to ensure stock is maintained at agreed levels, waste is minimised and best practice in procurement, financial and medicines governance is adhered to at all times.
The post-holder is commercially aware and should have excellent organisation and communication skills, initiative, attention to detail and be able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. The role will involve significant engagement with suppliers and NHS Stakeholders.
As a new job, the Agenda for Change band and salary range is provisional, pending re evaluation once the new post holder has become established in the role. The post holder’s Agenda for Change band and salary are protected in this process.
Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
This is a highly rewarding role that supports the COVID-19 response. For more information or an informal discussion please contact Paul Ryan, Advanced Specialist Pharmacist (Primary Care and Emergency Planning) on 07966 938472.
