Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS), a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) within the NHS National Services Scotland, plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in manufacturing, product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to fill the post of Transport Co-Ordinator working as part of our team in Edinburgh. The main duties are; managing a fleet of vehicles and a team of drivers delivering Blood Components to hospitals all over Scotland (including emergency deliveries), ensuring safe working practices are adhered to, adhering to relevant laws, legislations & best working practices with regard to the transportation of blood and blood products. These duties cover a 24/7/365 service & the role will be predominantly dayshift but may require occasional late shifts & weekend working.
You should hold a driving license entitlement for class B/B+E (a vehicle with MAM of 3500kgs with a trailer) and C1 (a vehicle between 3500kgs & 7500kgs). The post is based within our Transport Section, at Jack Copland Centre, Herriot Watt University Campus, Edinburgh but travel to our other depot at Glasgow could be required.
