OPHTHALMIC NURSE PRACTITIONER

BAND 7 OR TRAINEE 7 (Annexe 21)

Full Time / Permanent

Salary Scale Band 7 (fully trained) £40,872 - £47,846 per annum

Salary Scale Band 7 (Trainee) £35,884 per annum under the Annexe 21 arrangements as follows:

Up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate 


We are seeking to recruit a band 7 or  trainee band 7 (annex21) Ophthalmology Nurse Practitioner to join our existing close knit team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who  wishes to improve and develop services for Ophthalmology patients, working in conjunction with the service leads and heads of department.

The post will incorporate the (Advanced) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management and research.

The successful candidate will be supported in developing their clinical and leadership skills and progressing their career.

You will be expected to plan and deliver specialist ophthalmic nurse clinics and be able to diagnose / treat particular groups of ophthalmic patients and work with the team to deliver all aspects of care. You will be required to work with clinical, operational, information and administrative staff across all levels of seniority within the department.

You should hold or be working towards an ophthalmic qualification.  You will need to complete Advanced Practice Competency Framework/Portfolio and achieve final sign off.

You will be supported by Ophthalmic Nurse practitioners, Ophthalmic consultants with your training which would be expected to be completed within 12 months of taking up post. The training posts covers, days, evenings and weekends.

Posts will only be offered on a full time basis inclusive of dedicated protected learning time of approximately 20%.
