A new and exciting role has arisen to work within Glasgow City Specialist Children’s Services - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). We are looking for a caring and compassionate individual with great communication skills, who has the interest/experience/knowledge of working with young people (and their families) that are experiencing difficulties in relation to their mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders, eating disorders and complex social care needs.
 
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to and delivering a high standard of care to the children and young people who are referred to our service. The successful candidate will be committed to providing high quality direct support in all aspects of care, as part of an agreed care plan, which will involve being able to adapt oneself to a range of different approaches both with and without direct supervision.  They will have an integrated approach, working collaboratively with other disciplines, liaising with the wider CAMHS teams including tier 3 and inpatient services, if and when necessary. 

Under supervision and in collaboration with our team, the post holder will have a wide range of opportunities that will allow them to: 

•    Assist other clinicians with emergency assessment and support.
   Joining other clinicians for assessment and assist in safety planning. 
.   Support and empower the young person and their families in their recovery during times of crisis.

•    Contribute to a CAMHS wider assessment, including observing young people within their school settings and report back findings. 
•    Provide individualised time-limited treatments such as meal time management which acknowledge and respect the young person’s rights and needs, whilst promoting dignity and independence.
•    Work collaboratively with patients (and their carers) to enable them to contribute to care planning. The service will offer referral to advocacy and other relevant agencies.
•    Establish a positive culture and approach, which supports the development of each individual’s coping strategies

This post is full time, offering 37.5 hours per week, working to provide a service within the community that operates 7 days a week, Monday to Friday 9am till 8pm and 9am – 5pm Sat/Sun. The service is based within WGACH, however, as a service, we do provide care that would see the successful post holder travelling to different locations such as the young person’s home or school. 

An ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment is required and the post holder requires to demonstrate an ability/willingness to work towards achieving the competencies identified in ‘Essential CAMHS’ and other. 
Participation in regular clinical supervision with a named Community Mental Health Nurse / community Staff Nurse or other suitable Nurse. Actively participating in education and learning which are both essential and desirable to the role and indeed, with one’s own continual personal development. 

Previous experience in a caring environment/role is extremely advantageous alongside an ability to work with people and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. As mentioned, the role will include an aspect of physical health monitoring and intervention and eating disorder interventions this requires the post holder to have completed / working towards completing these competencies.   
The post holder requires an ability to work unsupervised and therefore hold effective written and verbal communication skills alongside the use of IT systems such as EMIS.

Full Driving Licence is required as the service covers all of GGC daily
