Two opportunities have arisen for a Chargehand Porter to join our busy Portering Team at the Victoria & Whytemans Brae Hospitals on a permanent basis. Hours are full-time. The Portering service operates 24 hours/7 days per week, and hours of work will be on a shift rota pattern, which includes dayshift/backshift/weekends/nightshift.
Chargehand Porter duties vary from supervision of a large staff group of Porters (approx 90 Porters), including undertaking weekly rotas and staff absence management. Manual handling of stores, linen, meal trolleys, waste, furniture etc. Associated equipment Tugs, trailers, trolleys, cages and pallet lifting equipment. Waste management and medical gas replenishment.
You will have IT skill set, and excellent communication skills in carrying out all duties, an ability to demonstrate professionalism and empathy when interacting with patients and members of the public. This extends to internal NHS staffing and external parties.
You will work closely with the Porter & Transport Manager in service training, and have an active role to ensure health & safety practices are implemented, and maintain a safe clean working environment for the delivery of the services at all times.
A clean full UK driving licence is required to enable you to drive NHS Fife vehicles, and also electric tugs to transport items internally within the Hospital.
Full training, and one to one coaching supplied, including attendance at mandatory training course.
A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
