Contract: This post is available 15 hours per week on a seconded basis for 12 months. The terms and conditions of employment for the secondment will be based on the appointees' substantive contract of employment or Band 8C (indicative) if more favourable.
NHS Grampian and the three Health and Social Care Partnerships are proud to be playing our part in the biggest vaccination programme the country has ever seen, to help protect the population from Covid-19.
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to take a lead role in ensuring the Vaccination Programme meets its overall objectives, delivers the projected outcomes and realises the required benefits to our population.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, almost certainly with evidence of a post-graduate qualification. They will have an extensive proven track record in formulating new approaches and experience in change management at a senior level as well as significant experience of development of healthcare services within the NHS with a clear understanding of and commitment to delivery of the agenda and direction of NHS Scotland.
The SRO will represent the interests of, and be accountable to, the Programme Executive Lead. Inspirational leadership, first class communications skills and effective interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills are essential to ensure that the objectives of the programme are met.
As Chair of the Programme Board, the individual will need to be highly experienced and have the ability to develop a governance & assurance regime that is effective, proportionate & appropriate. This will include ensuring that programme risk is managed throughout with appropriate assurance reviews and decision points.

The successful applicant will be expected to bring expertise to bear on key areas and contribute to strategic decision making and planning processes and to make a significant contribution to the management and leadership agenda in NHS Scotland.
Role Summary:
- The SRO represents the interests of, and is accountable to, the Executive Lead.
- The SRO is responsible for foreseeing that the programme meets its overall objectives.
- The SRO is empowered to make decisions on behalf of the Executive Lead.
- The SRO is responsible for:
- Guarding the viability of the programme vision and business case
- Leading the programme to its successful completion
- Managing key strategic risks
- Maintaining strategic alignment between the organisation and the programme
- Interfacing with senior stakeholders
