Applications are invited for this unique community based echocardiographer position. The successful applicant will be an experienced BSE accredited physiologist with a proven ability to work independently. Based at Inverurie Health Hub they will cover cardiology clinics throughout Aberdeenshire. Support will be provided by the postholder to Shire located consultant clinics and echo only clinics at Peterhead, Turriff, Aboyne, Inverurie and Stonehaven.
The post offers a great deal of independence and freedom to plan your own daily workload. The postholder will offer training and support to community clinics in other areas of cardiac physiology such as ETTs and ambulatory ECG recorders. Although based in the community the postholder will attend echo team sessions at ARI on a regular basis and will be supported by and report to the echo physiology clinical lead at ARI.
NHS Grampian covers the whole of Aberdeenshire with a catchment population of 650,000. At its centre is Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, a tertiary centre with 922 inpatient beds including the modern Emergency Care Centre. The cardiology service is dynamic and expanding offering a wide range of services to the population of the City and Shire.
The cardiac physiology department is staffed by 24 cardiac physiologists and 6 assistant technical officers. The main department provides the full range of technical cardiology services from echocardiography to implanted device follow-up clinics. There is a remote care service in place for CRM patients. The invasive catheter labs offer the full range of interventional procedures from primary PCI to therapeutic EP.
