Job Advert

This is an amazing and rewarding opportunity for registered nurses or AHPs to join our clinical education to help train cohorts of international nurses to join Dumfries and Galloway.

The training you will provide is set clinical skills (OSCE) training in order for nurses who have undertaken their primary nursing education out with the UK to gain their registration with the NMC. You will be organised and self motivated as you will expected to work autonomously to prepare the training material into useable classroom aids before delivering a very interactive and informal training hub 2 days a week over an 8 week period. The prep work will take place prior to the candidates arriving and ongoing as the training is updated by the NMC. The role also aims to enhance the quality of the practice and positively contribute to the current and future nursing/midwifery workforce. There will be follow up work to undertake with the new recruits and your colleagues within the education team to ensure the nurses have embedded their skills and are being supported throughout their first year.

Although part of the Clinical Education team, this role will work closely with the Workforce Sustainability team who will be organising the arrival of international recruits and help book the end exams so we are looking for people who can build relationships and influence others as well as have a commitment to, teaching and facilitation of learning in clinical practice.

You will also get the opportunity to link in with our partners in other boards at a national level to help develop a once for Scotland approach to training and work with colleagues from other boards and trusts in England who have already under taken international Nurse recruitment to gain best practice.

Training will be provided via national train the trainer sessions as well as opportunity to observe other training sessions however the majority of the knowledge is online and available via the NMC website.

Should you wish to have an informal chat about the role and expectation please feel free to contact Vic McDade Workforce Sustainability Manager and project lead for IR on Victoria.mcdade@nhs.scot or Christina Hoare Clinical Education Lead Nurse on Christina.hoare@nhs.scot.

Secondments are welcomed however this must be discussed with current line manager and highlighted on application.

Due to the short turn around of re-advertising this vacancy we will not be considering previous candidates who applied and were discounted.
