JOB TITLE: Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist

GRADE: Band 7

LOCATION: Travel Medicine Services WGH and across NHS Lothian

CONTRACT DURATION: Permanent

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

SALARY SCALE: £40,872- £47,846 (pro rata)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated person to join our travel medicine services as we expand.

The successful candidate will join a small but enthusiastic team and will be responsible for supporting the delivery of travel medicine across NHS Lothian.

The successful candidate will have significant demonstrable post registration experience in travel medicine, will be an effective communicator and exhibit successful leadership.

The Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for the development of innovative nursing practice for patients attending our travel health service. The post-holder is expected to facilitate the development of other nurses, in order to benefit patient care and to be an education resource on travel health to all members of the health board-wide multidisciplinary team. They will participate in service development, research and education to advance clinical excellence in the care of this patient cohort.

This post offers huge potential to further develop your nursing career, clinical leadership and management skills in a supportive and dynamic setting.

Furthermore, the post holder will be also responsible for:

Providing travel health in-clinic and remote consultations to a wide range of clients

Providing risk assessment, advice, administering vaccinations, malaria prophylaxis and other travel related medicines within the framework of NHS Lothian Patient Group Directions or as an independent prescriber.

Utilising a variety of electronic data sources to provide up to date information and NHS Lothian's clinic software to maintain accurate customer records.

The post will be based within the Western General Hospital and at Clinic sites across NHS Lothian
