Practice Education Lecturer (Nursing) (Ref: 7246)

Substantive, Part Time – 12.5 hours per week

Band 7 - Salary Range 37,570 - £44,688 per annum (pro rata)

Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,841 per annum pro-rata

Relocation Assistance of up to £8000 available

 

This is a great opportunity to join a small team dedicated to delivering high quality education across NHS Shetland. Based in the Clinical Education Department at Gilbert Bain Hospital Lerwick Shetland, the post holder will have an active role in the preparation, delivery and evaluation of essential nursing education to ensure students are able to demonstrate that they meet the required standards to provide safe and effective care for patients while meeting professional standards.

 

The PEL (Nursing) will play a lead role in ensuring that student experience in practice placements meet nationally and locally agreed standards.  The PEL (Nursing) will in partnership with  Robert Gordon University (RGU) in respect of all aspects of the delivery of the undergraduate curriculum. The post will influence, develop and enhance the quality of practice learning by providing support and educational input to the placement area. 

 

The PELN will also line manage the Practice Educator (PE) who supports post graduate education, primarily the delivery of educational packages developed by NHS Education for Scotland (NES)  and  Contribute to the ongoing development of essential clinical skills for all staff within NHS Shetland and students allocated for placement.

 

We are looking for a RN with an appropriate nursing or midwifery degree and post graduate qualifications at MSc Level. Also an appropriate Lecturer/Practice Education qualification (e.g. postgraduate certificate in practice education) or working towards.
