A vital part of NHS National Services Scotland's mission is to enable and support the delivery of better health and better care by working in partnership. We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care. The Procurement, Commissioning and Facilities Strategic Business Unit, is a division of NHS National Services Scotland and its NHS Scotland Assure directorate provides operational guidance and support to NHS Scotland healthcare bodies on all facilities topics.
We deliver and co-ordinate effective advice and support in relation to national facilities, equipping and technical matters which support and improve health and well-being services. We also provide advice, support and performance monitoring reports to Scottish Government, and work with other directorates and regulatory bodies. NHS Scotland Assure advises and supports all NHS Scotland Boards on the management of Climate Change and Sustainability services necessary to support the delivery of healthcare. NHS Scotland Assure wishes to appoint someone to lead, manage, develop and implement Climate Change and Sustainability policy, guidance, training and support.
The post holder will be required to develop appropriate guidance, give advice and develop and deliver training and operational support to all Boards on all topics related to climate change and sustainability, this includes but is not limited energy and emissions, environmental management systems, adaptation and circular economy.
In order to support all NHS Scotland Boards effectively, the role requires a sound understanding of a broad range of climate change and sustainability issues, including NHS guidance, gained through extensive experience at senior level in the health sector or equivalent role. The post holder will work from NSS offices, home, Health Board sites and other locations as necessary.
Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
