West Ambulance Control Centre

Dispatch/SSD Practice Developer, AFC Band 5

The Ambulance Control Centres are responsible for handling emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance responses across the whole of Scotland. We dispatch a range of assets in response to over 450,000 requests for help each year, offering clinical advice and operational support in line with the current service strategy.

An opportunity has arisen within the West Ambulance Control Centre for staff to apply for the permanent role of dispatch/SSD Practice Developer. This team are responsible for the ongoing training, education, quality assurance and support of all new and existing staff within the control room environment. The practice development team ensures that all staff are prepared to deliver and maintain the highest possible quality of care to all of our patients. 

Working with the ACC Learning and Development Managers, the post holder will develop, deliver and implement a programme of continuing education and training packages that support staff in their day-to-day roles. They will provide learning support to the management and supervisor teams by acting as the point of contact for all learning and development activities within the department ensuring that staff can adapt quickly and are responsive to changes in service delivery.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in all aspects of dispatch/SSD and will be able to demonstrate a high compliance to protocol. They will be highly motivated, flexible and have the ability to prioritise workload and embrace change in this ever-developing environment. This post is based in the West of Scotland, you will be required to travel between Control Centres and training sites, to deliver and develop training. This may be at short notice; therefore, a driving license is desirable.

This post is offered on a relief basis and requires some out of hours working for which the appropriate salary enhancements will be offered.
