The post holder manages the Procurement Activity on a day-to-day basis within NHS Lanarkshire Procurement Department.


NHS LANARKSHIRE and the successful candidate will be required to work across the three acute sites in Perioperative Services,  


This includes full responsibility for ensuring that the Stock procurement, storage and distribution function is carried out correctly and cost effectively in compliance with the Board’s “Standing Financial Instructions”.


Standardisation and rationalisation of products where appropriate and maintaining consistency of the Supply chain by providing an efficient and professional service to all wards and departments.


The post holder is also responsible for continually enhancing and improving the service to the customer base including the responsibility for product information, product alerts, product recalls and customer supply notices.


Integral to the post is the requirement to demonstrate good interpersonal skills to liaise with a range of individuals internal and external to the Supply Chain.  The Post holder must be customer-focused working to deadlines and capable of providing a quality service to meet the needs of our key stakeholders and customers at all levels of the business. Whilst at the same time possess strong management skills.


Excellent analytical skills are also a pre-requisite for the job.


The post holder will also be expected to represent the Procurement department at user department meetings and participate in Vendor discussions as required.



KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB


Knowledge in using an integrated stock management system is essential and experience in maintaining and updating system information is necessary.

The post holder must be highly IT literate and have exceptional analytical skills.

The post holder should have experience in delivering customer focussed services and have strong communication with the confidence and ability to relate to all healthcare professionals.

The post holder should have experience within a Supply Chain management environment in-depth knowledge of supply chain processes is essential.

The post holder must be able to operate effectively and be adaptable in conditions of change responding flexibly to crisis situations positively and effectively and team-working skills are necessary.

The post holder should be educated to HNC/SVQ 3 or equivalent such as Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supplies.
