An exciting opportunity exists for a proactive, experienced and confident clinician with extensive subject and improvement knowledge in the context of neonatal care to join the Improvement Hub (ihub) within Healthcare Improvement Scotland. The ihub provides improvement support to the health and social care system and NHS boards focused on supporting our health, social care and housing partners to deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes for people in Scotland.

The post holder will provide subject and improvement expertise, clinical advice and visible leadership to the established Scottish Patient Safety Neonatal Programme, and wider Maternity and Children Quality Improvement Collaborative (MCQIC).  They will support the reliable delivery of evidence-based interventions for neonatal services in acute hospitals, build on the programme successes including the development and implementation of the Preterm Perinatal Wellbeing Package and develop new relevant areas of focus as well as embedding The Essentials of Safe Care throughout the work.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience in developing and implementing improvements in neonatal care, and clinical experience in a senior medical role. Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills will be fundamental to success in this role. It is important for candidates to have an understanding and experience of quality improvement methods and an ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders. In addition candidates will have knowledge and understanding of the many improvement initiatives in hospitals and seek to integrate these to support local teams to identify synergies and work effectively. They will liaise with other national clinical leads, advisors, colleagues in other improvement programmes and professional groups and bodies across the UK and internationally to share learning.

Visible, active engagement of teams across health and social care is central to the success of our work with professional leadership a key factor in ensuring that services are designed to provide high quality care and outcomes and that people experience the right care and support whatever their needs. Supporting colleagues to make care safe, effective and person-centered for individuals, their families and carers is a priority for Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in national improvement initiatives that have a direct impact on care and outcomes for individuals across Scotland.
