Contact Tracing/Recovery & Renewal Practitioner

Band 5 £27,418 - £34,229 including Distant Islands Allowance pro rata per annum
Part time (minimum 22.5 hours) and Full-time hours considered
Fixed term or *Secondment until 30th September 2022
NHS Orkney now has a number of immediate opportunities to work as part of a team of contact tracers, responsible for providing the first point of contact with people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and their contacts in order to break chains of transmission of COVID-19 in the community. You will undertake telephone interviews and accurately capture all relevant data on the Case Management System (CMS). You will support other contact tracers in their work.
In addition to working within the contact tracing team in Orkney, this role will work with Health Improvement to implement recovery and renewal through implementation of health improvement methodology to improve population level health and reduce health inequalities.
This opportunity will suit those who can demonstrate a flexible approach with adaptable attitude while keeping calm under pressure. Understanding, awareness, and commitment to following Information Governance procedures and Data Protection legislation will be a requirement of this role. You must demonstrate clear verbal communication skills, ability to write detailed notes and to take responsibility for decisions, alongside understanding when decisions need to be escalated to a Team Leader as appropriate. You must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and electronic information systems to support the public health management.
You must be educated to degree level or have the equivalent experience which is relevant to the main attributes of the role and be able to demonstrate an understand of the determinants of health and health inequalities. You must be able to demonstrate strong partnership working skills. You must be able to work flexibly over a 37.5-hour week. The service operating between the hours of 8am-8pm seven days per week and staff will be working across shifts to cover the service.
