MENTEL HEALTH CRISIS SERVICE

Band 6: £33,072- £40,736

11 hours per week – Part Time, Permanent

NHS Highland Mental Health services, Mental Health Assessment Unit (MHAU) are seeking a highly motivated Registered Mental Nurse to join our team.

The successful candidate will have a high level of knowledge and skills with regards assessment of major mental illness/disorders and distress. The post holder will be required to work autonomously and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team being able to demonstrate the ability to make sound clinical decisions.

The post holder will be required to assess mental state and relevant risks including suicide, self harm and violence within the framework of wider holistic assessments. Assessments may on occasion be nurse led; others conducted jointly with medical colleagues. These assessments include police S297 assessments. The team also provide a 24/7 triage service to Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service & NHS24.


Crisis services (which include Braeside, MHAT, and Night Triage & OOH's CPN’s) are currently going through a period of redesign and 'test of change'.  You will be part of current service developments aiming to enhance the crisis service. Some of the developments being considered are; on-site assessments (within person’s locality/home) as well as joint working with Police Scotland again for joint response/ onsite assessments.

You will be expected to work a 24 hour shift pattern.
