We require enthusiastic, self motivated and innovative clinical pharmacists to develop and support the delivery of the Scottish Government funded Pharmacotherapy Service within GP practices in NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

You will use and develop your clinical expertise (including independent prescribing where applicable), working with a cohort of patients as part of a multidisciplinary practice team. Part of the role will also include ensuring quality and cost effective prescribing within GP practices to meet NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s efficiency savings. 

Clinical expertise, good communication, organisational and IT skills along with the ability to work with patients and other healthcare professionals are required.

You will be a qualified pharmacist with Stage II Vocational training or evidence of equivalent experience. You should have proven clinical skills. A qualification as a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber (or working towards that) is desirable, as is a relevant postgraduate qualification. You should hold membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council. Additionally you should demonstrate a commitment to Continuous Professional Development.

The posts are based in GP practices in East Ayrshire HSCP. Occasionally however, you may be required to work in other areas within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

Applications will be considered for a band 6 post if newly qualified pharmacists or those who do not meet the experience criteria for the Band 7 post.

Various hours both fixed term and permanent posts available ​​​​​​​

In future, in accordance with AfC Terms and conditions, you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.

The post requires full PVG Scheme membership/Disclosure Scotland.

A driving licence is essential for this post.
