To identify, plan, deliver & evaluate learning, training & development activities for all staff working throughout NHS Lothian Oral Health Service (OHS) Edinburgh Dental Institute (EDI) and Public Dental Service (PDS). In collaboration with managers ensure OHS staff are fit for purpose and practice. This may include linking with University of Edinburgh Staff, who as part of their university employment also work with NHS Lothian OHS.

There is a requirement to work in collaboration with education departments for management of violence and aggression and resuscitation. This liason role will be the vital link with these departments to ensure that link training provided by internal trainers meets the standard set across NHS Lothian and create a collaborative working relationship.

The post holder will be heavily involved in delivering all aspects of OHS link training as well as providing leadership supporting, training and mentoring in- house link trainers to ensure they are able to deliver link training e.g Violence & Aggression (V&A), Basic Life Support (BLS), Decontamination to ensure mandatory compliance for OHS staff and that there is a strong focus and drive on continued professional development.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
