Job Advert

Secondment until end of March 2021

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual for a seconded/Fixed term (5 month) position of Business Support Manager (Band 7) to work within the Incident Management Team (IMT).  The IMT is based in Newbridge, but the successful individual will be able to work remotely from this location for some of the week.  The IMT has been set up to manage the Service’s response to the current system wide pressures that we are experiencing across the whole country.  It is a small team that has the strategic lead on a number of key pieces of work to help us increase our capacity and reduce the demand over the winter months.

The post holder will be an integral part of the IMT and will work closely with the Deputy Director to deliver on actions that contribute to managing some of the current system pressures.  They will provide business support to the IMT, providing reports and analysis on various aspects of the IMT Service wide operational and tactical delivery.  The role also requires assisting in developing processes and practices, along with leading specific projects and programmes of work that contribute to managing system pressures.   The post holder will also have an active role within the IMT and will be expected to support ‘on the day’ activity as well as being involved in longer term pieces of work.  They will link closely with the three Regional Operational Cells to coordinate activity across the Service.

To achieve this, you will be educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.  You must be competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages and in the compilation and presentation of formal reports.  You need to have excellent communication skills, be comfortable with making decisions, and be capable of working on your own initiative whilst delivering against tight timescales.  We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude, who wants to get stuck in and make a difference, whilst learning some new parts of the organisation.  Having good networks within SAS would be advantageous, although this would be a real opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their career, be involved in operational/tactical service delivery, and is wanting to do something that has a real direct benefit to patient safety, staff welfare, and service resourcing (the three key strategic intents of the IMT).  We are looking for a ‘doer’… someone who can make some of the key pieces of IMT work a reality!  Therefore operational experience is less important than a willingness to make things happen, and a desire to learn.

If you are looking for a short term change, or looking for your next challenge (and be clear, it will be a real challenge for the IMT over the winter months), and you think you have want we are looking for, then this could be the opportunity for you.

Informal enquiries should be made to Matt Cooper, Deputy Director – IMT, by email matthew.cooper3@nhs.scot or phone 07920 271 740.
