An opportunity has arisen for someone who is results driven, ambitious, outgoing, eager to learn and confident to join the NHS Borders Clinical Governance and Quality team as a Clinical Information Officer.

About us:

The Clinical Governance and Quality function is an NHS Borders wide support service based within the Borders General Hospital.  The function has a responsibility for leading and supporting a range of quality improvement activities centred on the delivery of safe, effective and person centred care. 

What you will be doing:

  • Providing support to a number of local and national clinical audits, including the South East Scotland Cancer Network (SCAN) tumour specific groups audit (Lung Cancer, Colorectal Cancer and Urology Cancers).
  • Collect, analyse and report data to measure services and improvement against national, regional and local standards and targets.
  • Supporting clinical teams in the use of clinical information to enable and inform continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Support research and innovation activity across NS Borders.

You need to:

  • Have a degree level qualification or evidence of equivalent experience or ability.
  • Have excellent computer skills in particular spread sheets and databases.
  • Demonstrate first class analytical, prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • Have an exceptional level of attention to detail.
  • Interrogate multiple data sources and collate information.
  • Possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information.
  • Demonstrate pro-activeness and initiative and the ability to continually seek out ways to improve processes and procedures and share ideas.
  • Have the ability to work towards tight deadlines.
  • Be able to work from Borders General Hospital as the requirements of the post are unable to be carried out remotely.
