The Scottish Ambulance Service Fleet Department maintain a fleet of 1,450 emergency response, scheduled care and support vehicles nationally through 15 in house maintenance facilities and partner services.
We are recruiting a Vehicle Technician / Master Craftsperson to work in Dundee Ambulance Workshops. Applicants should consider that the post will initially be based at the Stirling facility; however may be required to work from other Scottish Ambulance Workshops if required. These facilities maintain the Forth Valley and Perthshire fleet of specialist support and income generation vehicles. The post holder will be one of a small team reporting to the Maintenance Charge hand.
The post holder will be a qualified mechanic with experience in the maintenance and repair of cars and light commercials. The post required extensive diagnostic, auto electrical and analytical skills. Candidates will be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision to the highest standards in a time and safety critical environment.
To meet the challenges of this position, candidates should have an automotive apprenticeship with the appropriate qualifications and experience. Candidates must hold a full driving licence (C1 & D1 entitlement attainment would be a condition of employment). A sound working knowledge of computers, use of software programmes, internet and e-mail is essential.
This is a full time position working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. A rotating pattern of weekend On Call will be part of the post responsibility with occasional overtime and public holiday working.
