Full time - Fixed term contract/secondment to March 2023 and March 2024

Two exciting opportunities have arisen to join the Improvement Hub (ihub) within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS), which is currently developing a range of new approaches to enable improvements in health and social care in Scotland. The roles will sit within the Evidence and Evaluation for Improvement Team (EEvIT) and will work closely alongside either the Strategic Planning Portfolio or the Mental Health Improvement Portfolio of the ihub.

The Evidence and Evaluation for Improvement Team (EEvIT) provides high quality evidence review and evaluation support for HIS improvement work. EEvIT supports improvement/redesign teams within the ihub to use evidence to inform the planning and development of their work. In addition, a large proportion of EEvIT time is spent supporting improvement/redesign teams with the evaluation of their improvement work and the sharing of learning from service improvement in redesign to support spread.

We are looking to appoint two enthusiastic and positive Knowledge and Information Skills Specialists to work with us. Key responsibilities of the post holders will include:

· Capturing stories and case studies to evidence the impact of the ihub work.

· Identifying and capturing examples of innovation, such as new service models and good practice to inform the development of our work, building the case for doing things differently.

· Undertaking horizon scanning of published reviews, evidence or innovative thinking that can inform the development of our work.

· Together with health service researchers, developing evaluation plans and supporting data collection and analysis.

· Sharing and disseminating knowledge across various information channels (web sites, social media).

· Developing web content, working closely with the ihub communication team.

· Working in partnership with colleagues in EEvIT, the communication team and the wider Evidence Directorate within HIS to ensure a quality service.

We are particularly interested in recruiting a creative individuals who can present complex information in a clear and engaging way. Experience of presenting information visually is advantageous but not essential, however, willingness to learn and develop skills in this area is important. Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively on their own but also as part of a team. A flexible and creative approach to work is important.

These posts will work closely with programmes in the ihub in the following areas:

· The Mental Health and Substance Use Pathfinders programme, which is led by the Strategic Planning Portfolio, part of the Transformational Redesign Unit. This programme aims to redesign care pathways to improve quality of care, access to treatment and health outcomes for people with a dual diagnosis of mental ill health and substance use (Fixed term role to March 2024).

· The Personality Disorders programme, which is led by the Mental Health Improvement Portfolio. This programme aims to understand the current state of service provision for people with a personality disorder in order to identify key opportunities for improvement and to then develop proposals to deliver improvements (Fixed term role to March 2023).
