This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

An exciting opportunity for a band 4 support worker has become available based at St John’s Hospital. This post will be based within the Occupational Therapy Team and is a unique role in that it encompasses competencies to support both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff. The ROTAS team mainly provide input into Accident and Emergency, Emergency Medical Assessment and Medical Admissions all of which are acute wards.
The post holder will require excellent communication, flexibility and strong time keeping skills to adapt to the fast pace of the ROTAS caseload and the working environment. A strong team working ethic is essential to facilitate joint assessments with the MDT, providing patient centred care in a time pressured environment. The post holder will also be required to carry their own caseload of patients with the support of senior staff.
The successful applicant will receive regular training, supervision and support to enable them to work within their agreed competence levels from a well established, supportive and friendly team.
Within NHS Lothian, we work to a 7 day service meaning you will be require to work weekends, as per rota (1 day, Sat or Sun every 6 weeks). Hours of work for weekdays are negotiable but the successful applicant will be required to include Wednesdays and Fridays in their working days.
