Pharmacy Support Worker

37.5 hours/week (1 WTE)

Participating in Weekend Working, Public Holiday & Extended Hours Rotas

The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital is one of the largest acute hospitals in the UK and home to major specialist services such as renal medicine, transplantation and vascular surgery, with state-of-the-art Critical Care, Theatre and Diagnostic Services. The Royal Hospital for Children is adjoined to the adult hospital and has 244 paediatric beds, with a further 12 neonatal beds in the maternity unit. This hospital campus provides a large number of specialist services to the West of Scotland and the wider population of Scotland in addition to a full range of secondary care services including cardiology and cardiac surgery, renal and bone marrow transplantation. For a number of these services, the children’s hospital is recognised as the sole provider in Scotland.   We are looking for a suitably qualified, highly motivated individual to join our friendly and supportive pharmacy team in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services within each specialty ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients. You will have a key role in providing an effective Making the Most of Your Medicines service at ward level for both adults and children. You will be an integral member of the pharmacy team working in the main department and at ward level liaising closely with the wider multidisciplinary team. We have a number of near patient dispensing areas in the adult and children’s hospital that you will get the opportunity to work from on a rotational basis.  The post holder will contribute to the ongoing redesign of pharmacy services and provide dispensing services including: dispensing discharge prescriptions at ward level, providing ward top up services and working as part of the multidisciplinary team both at ward level and in the dispensary.  The post will rotate within Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Royal Hospital for Children pharmacy areas working 37.5 hour per week and on a shift rotation of 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm and 11am-7pm to help support our extended hours service. Weekends and Public Holidays are also worked on a rota basis.
