As Senior Project Manager for the GCRF Project Management Unit you will lead a team of Project Managers and Assistants with a portfolio of research studies sponsored by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Research and Innovation (R&I) Department, and/or co-sponsored with the University of Glasgow. You will work closely with NHSGGC R&I teams (sponsor teams, innovation, biorepository, imaging, safe haven, governance, pharmacy, finance)
You will be responsible for leading the team to co-ordinate, support and manage multicentre research studies, predominantly Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs). You will ensure projects are developed and coordinated from the initial enquiry, grant award through all the approval processes. This will include launching the projects and subsequent monitoring of process through to completion and publication.
You will provide clinical investigators with expert information, practical assistance, and the resources they require for clinical research, which include costing, resourcing and staffing assistance, preparation of trial paperwork and assistance with applications for the necessary approvals required for each study. You will appoint and line manage project managers for allocated projects and oversee the processes and procedures, and their training and development. You will support the more complex challenging set up and delivery and ensure there is seamless cover for the portfolio activities. Managing and supporting research projects in accordance with Research Governance frameworks and legislation, all applicable regulatory requirements, and with standards as outlined in Good Clinical Practice regulations will also be an important part of your role.
Skills, experience required for the role:
- Relevant first degree essential (nursing, bioscience or social science).
- Higher degree desirable (e.g. Masters or Doctorate)
- Proven Clinical Research experience essential, min.5 years
- Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) desirable
- Evidence of technical writing skills (e.g. published work)
- Evidence of project management skills (experience).
- Demonstrate excellent communication/presentation skills.
- Experience of working with multi-disciplinary groups
- Knowledge and understanding of NHS practices
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel, Access , Word) Microsoft Teams
- Good knowledge of current legal and regulatory frameworks for the conduct of clinical trials in the UK, GCP trained.
- High level of organisation
- Demonstrate ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Evidence of continual professional development
