Public Health Scotland is a new organisation between the Scottish Government and Local Government, working in partnership, to provide leadership to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland.
Public Health Scotland launched 1st April 2020 with the formal status of a National Special Health Board employing around 1100 people, and with an annual budget of around £60 million, Public Health Scotland will provide authoritative information and services to support people and communities across Scotland. It will lead the national response to unforeseen health emergencies and will contribute to national and local government policy through its provision of robust data and intelligence.
Public Health Scotland is looking to appoint an Assistant Editor to backfill an internal promotion providing maternity cover.
The Assistant Editor post is placed within the Publishing Services team and will provide detailed editorial input to a wide range of Public Health Scotland publications.
Specifically, the Assistant Editor will:
• work and contribute to the overall strategic work plan of the Publishing team, providing specialist support for editorial aspects of projects including proofreading, checking, formatting and styling of documents, as well as quality- and accessibility-checking.
• Be responsible for the updating of all reprints, including taking in amendments as required, and ensuring web links, imprint and contact details are all accurate and up to date.
• Project manage some assigned smaller jobs going through the publishing team (e.g. posters), including writing and seeking agreement of job briefs, leading the project team, negotiating and agreeing timescales and milestones, identifying associated risks and conflicts to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
