Have you graduated from an undergraduate Paramedic programme in 2021? Are you just registering with the HCPC and looking for somewhere to start your Paramedic career? Are you already an NQP and looking for a move to Scotland? The Scottish Ambulance Service is recruiting Newly Qualified Paramedics (NQPs) in locations across Scotland to join us in early 2022.
As a Service we are developing at pace, in the last five years we have introduced Advanced Paramedics in Urgent and Emergency Care, developed a new clinical response model, rolled out Critical Care Paramedics, developed a new education programme and improved survival from Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests (OHCA) to world leading levels. We are now embarking on our next 10-year strategy which will see the Service sustain these changes and further develop the clinical care we deliver.
Our NQPs are mentored and monitored over an 18-month period, commencing on Agenda for Change Band 5; rising to Band 6 at the end of the probationary term, having completed our NQP development programme.
What do we need from you?
You need to be in your first year of registration, or you are eligible to register with the HCPC.
You also require C1 on your driving licence prior to starting with us as our fleet of A&E vehicles are all Mercedes with a box body conversion, the majority of which are under five years old. You can apply without C1, but any offer of employment would be pending you having C1 by your start date. If this is a barrier, we can help you with a loan to undertake your training prior to your start date. You don’t need to hold an emergency driving qualification as we can help you achieve this.
