University Hospital Wishaw is recruiting several new posts to enhance the clinical team providing services within Acute Medicine.
The post holder will become an integrated member of the consultant-led multidisciplinary team, attending post receiving ward rounds, contributing to prescribing decisions and providing direct patient care to patients admitted to acute medicine which covers over 50 beds. Working from the dedicated satellite within the ward you will work alongside the technical team who provide support with drug history taking, patient education and medication supply issues.
Working with medical, nursing and pharmacy staff within the ward setting you will require a good level of clinical reasoning and judgement as well as excellent communication skills.
There will be a focus on ensuring safe, effective and person-centred use of medicines at the interface during and throughout admission as well as undertaking quality improvement initiatives to improve practice.
Experience working within the acute hospital setting is required and you will be supported to undertake and qualify as a pharmacist independent prescriber if not already practising at this level and you will be mentored by the Senior Pharmacist for Acute Medicine.
