We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join our Major Trauma Rehabilitation Service. This team is focused on providing therapy assessment and treatment to Major Trauma patients in the Borders General Hospital and across Community Services with the key aim of enabling individuals to achieve discharge home from hospital in a timely fashion and regain independent function and a good quality of life.
As an Assistant Practitioner, you will be allocated a delegated patient caseload by the qualified Therapist. For your caseload and when relevant, you will be expected to work independently, assessing the patient's needs, modifying treatment plans, and delivering this care without supervision. This will include progressing patients, reassessing and discharging within scope of practice. Full engagement with the multi-disciplinary team you work within is key to this position.
Within this post you will work very closely with community colleagues, and some patient care will be delivered within the community and /or at the patient’s home.
You will also support the Therapy teams through a range of non-clinical duties, from equipment ordering, referring patients to primary care teams and assisting with statistical information collation for audit as examples.
The complexity of conditions encountered and requirement for excellence in clinical reasoning and team working will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner.
Part time or job share candidates would be given consideration.
