The Monklands Replacement Project Team are responsible for bringing together the strategic delivery of services and will plan, procure and deliver a New Acute Hospital. The post holder will work with internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of key Programme milestones and agreed outcomes for the life of the Project Programme. 

The post holder will report to the MRP Project Manager, but may also take direction for the wider senior team including the Project Director, Head of Projects and Clinical Lead. The post holder will also be required to engage frequently with a wider range of NHS Lanarkshire stakeholders.

The purpose of the role is to act as the NHSL internal project manager for the Monklands Replacement Project (MRP), the project to replace Monklands Hospital, currently located in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. Reporting directly to the Project Director, this role will have primary responsibility for delivering expert leadership and operational management in project briefing, design and implementation.

The post holder will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary internal and external team throughout the design, competitive tendering exercise for selection and appointment of the development partner, including tender analysis and reporting, authorisation and formal appointment of the successful bidder and beyond into construction and commissioning of the new hospital.

The post holder is responsible for working with the project team and NHSL stakeholders to deliver a hugely complex project, a new >£500 million acute hospital. The successful individual will require to be comfortable in a demanding environment, with competing demands and with limited and sometimes conflicting information. Errors in decisions could lead to £m+ costs and delays of months on delivery, the successful candidate will therefore, require to demonstrate sound decision making and excellent governance.

The successful applicant will be educated to Postgraduate Degree at Masters Level, or equivalent, with experience of Project Management of major projects with financial and construction management accountability and possess a recognised Property, Building, Engineering related qualification and membership of MICE, MIStructE, RIAS, R.I.C.S , CIOB(or equivalent)

The post holder will also have demonstrable experience of the Project Manager role within large scale and complex projects, including initiating the facilitation of contributions from numerous diverse professional stakeholders.
