Full Time 37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and enthusiastic registered nurse to work as part of the health protection team based in the Directorate of Public Health, NHS Orkney as a Band 6 Senior Health Protection Specialist (Complex Settings Contact Tracer).
The Health Protection Team core office hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, including an on-call requirement. However, due to Covid requirements the service is currently operating 7 days a week between the hours of 8am and 8pm and the successful candidates will be required to work a shift pattern within these hours.
You will be a member of the Public Health Team providing specialist health protection (communicable diseases, other infections, immunisation, environmental health, water safety and related topics) advice and response to professionals, patients, and the public. In addition, you will lead the contact tracing team when investigating cases of disease e.g. COVID-19. A large component of this work relates to applying appropriate investigation and control measures to minimise the impact of infection and/or communicable disease within the family, care environment, work environment and the wider community throughout Orkney.
The successful candidate should be able to provide evidence of having an active interest in communicable disease infection prevention and control of the management of environmental hazards. Experience within the community setting is desirable
